Battle of the Books 2016-17 titles on the Alaska Digital Library

Titles

52 out of 56 Battle of the Books titles have been added to the Alaska Digital Library. Yippie! They are currently available as Featured Collections in the five grade divisions.

We were able to find 50 out of 56 titles in eBook format and 33 out of 56 in audiobook format. This is a very good percentage of available titles. The only titles not available at all are:

  • Squirrels fun day by Lisa Moser
  • Dance on a Sealskin by Barbara Winslow
  • Three hens and a peacock by Lester Laminack
  • Under Alaska’s Midnight sun by Deb Vanasse

Two titles are only available in audiobook format only, not eBook format:

  • Princess in black by Shannon Hale
  • Diamond Willow by Helen Frost

Overdrive is researching the possibility of getting these titles in eBook format.

Cost-Additional Copies

FYI. The cost of purchasing these electronic titles is much higher than the print version. It is estimated that the print copies of all titles would cost $462.39. EBook and Audiobook copies are $1,157.86 and $1,143.11, respectively ($2,300.97 in total – Yikes!). The Alaska Digital Library will purchase additional copies following our policy of purchasing an additional copy for every 10 holds that are added.

Advantage libraries are always able to purchase additional copies for their patrons through the Overdrive Marketplace. A cart with all available Battle of the Books titles is available in Marketplace for you to copy (no searching necessary). If your library would like to make a donation to purchase some additional copies, please contact Tracy at info@aklib.net.
